I'm in my blue phase, and I don't think it will end anytime soon!
Hi, I'm Emily, a Cyanotype Artist based in Nottingham, creating distinctive artwork inspired by nature, memory and the traces we leave behind.
I consider myself a creative soul who fell in love with the alternative photography process of cyanotype back at university and haven't stopped since. I'm also an amateur climber, swimmer, forager, gardener, and DIYer.
My obsessions include otters, dragons, mushrooms, chocolate and charity shopping.
Today, I use this beautiful photographic technique to create detailed blue artwork, often working with botanicals, photography and carefully collected natural materials.
I work from my home studio in Nottingham and supply cyanotype artwork to clients across the UK.

Cyanotype Art Inspired by Nature, Memory & Place
My work combines a love of photography, printmaking and the natural world with an ongoing fascination with memory.
Much of my recent cyanotype art is created using pressed botanicals that I have collected over time. Their shapes, textures and tiny details are transformed through the cyanotype process into striking compositions in deep blue and white.
Other pieces explore photography, human traces and the way memories change over time.
I like my work to hold onto something that might otherwise disappear, whether that is the form of a plant, the impression of a place or a moment in time captured and made timeless through a photograph.
No matter where the idea starts, I always seem to find my way back to blue.

As an artistic professional, I’m always looking for the next opportunity to make commissions, work with organisations and events, to exhibit my art or teach creative workshops, and learn and gain ideas for my own creative practice.
I like to dabble with a range of media, although I keep coming back to my camera and cyanotypes.

Cyanotype Workshops
Cyanotype is even better when you get to make it yourself!
I run creative cyanotype workshops where you can learn how the process works, experiment with different materials and create your own blue prints to take home.
Workshops are designed to make cyanotype approachable, even if you have never tried printmaking or alternative photography before.I also offer private workshops for groups, schools, businesses, charities and other organisations. Sessions can be adapted to suit different ages, abilities and creative aims.

Emily Arnold - Cyanotype Artist in Nottingham
I’m a fine artist, printmaker and photographer based in Nottingham, with cyanotype forming a major part of my creative practice. I exhibit and run workshops across the country and have produced bespoke artwork for a wide range of people from all different walks of life.
I’m fascinated by the way photography, sunlight, natural materials and chance can come together to create a unique, unforgettable image.
As a cyanotype artist in the UK, my work is influenced by the landscapes, plants, photographs, people, and objects I encounter on my travels. I’m also a keen forager and gardener, so collecting and preserving interesting natural forms has gradually become part of the way I make art. One of the greatest feelings is knowing I’ve created a one of a kind piece for someone who wants artwork that features photographs of family, friends or pets.
Alongside creating my own work, I enjoy sharing the cyanotype process with other people through workshops, exhibitions, markets and collaborative projects.
