Bespoke Cyanotype Commissions

Commissioned Cyanotype Art by Emily

I accept bespoke cyanotype commissions of all shapes and sizes, from custom prints to wall prints to full-length murals.

Some people, places, pets and plants stay with us.
Cyanotype gives me a way to explore those connections in beautiful blue tones, creating unique, one-of-a-kind artwork. Artwork with something personal at its heart.

Every piece I create is individual. Contact me to discuss how we can bring your ideas to life.

You might have a clear plan, or simply know what you'd like the work to represent. Either way, I'd love to hear about it.

We can explore what will work with the cyanotype process and develop an idea that feels right for you.

What Are Cyanotype Commissions?

A cyanotype commission is a piece of artwork created especially for you using a photographic printing process known for its distinctive blue tones.

Light-sensitive paper is exposed to UV light beneath plants, objects or a photographic negative. Washing the paper reveals the image, with pale details appearing against a blue background.

I use this process to explore photography, natural forms and memory. Small differences in the materials, exposure and washing give each handmade print its own character. These details are part of what makes cyanotype such an interesting way to create personal artwork.

How to Commission Your Cyanotype Artwork

Commissioning art starts with a conversation. These stages help us turn an initial thought into a practical brief.

1. Share Your Idea

Tell me what you'd like to commission and why it matters to you. Include any photographs or references, your preferred size if you know it, an approximate budget and any important date.A few sentences are enough to begin. You can also point me towards pieces in my gallery that catch your eye.

2. Discuss the Details

We can explore the subject, composition and format, along with the materials or photographs involved. I'll discuss what is possible and the details needed for a quote. This is also the time to raise questions about presentation, timing and how you would like to receive the artwork.

3. Create the Print

Once the brief and practical arrangements are agreed, I can develop the artwork through the cyanotype process.Preparing the image or materials, arranging the composition, exposing the paper and washing the print all contribute to the result. Handmade variations give the work its individual character.

4. Plan the Finishing Details

How you intend to display the artwork helps shape decisions about its presentation. Mention any framing requirements when enquiring so we can discuss the options for your piece.

Delivery arrangements and any associated costs should also form part of the agreed commission details.

Botanical Cyanotype Commissions

Plants often find their way into my artwork. I enjoy collecting and pressing natural materials, then discovering how their shapes and fine details appear in a print.

A botanical commission could begin with a favourite flower, a particular leaf shape or plants associated with a place you love. We can discuss the composition and what you'd like those forms to represent.

If you want to use your own flowers or other meaningful materials, please contact me before sending them. We can talk about their suitability, preparation and how they might be used in your piece.

Artwork for Homes, Businesses and Organisations

I welcome commission enquiries for personal spaces as well as ideas from businesses, venues and organisations.

A project might explore a connection to a particular place, bring botanical imagery into a room or draw on photographs with a shared history.

Tell me about the setting, who will see the work and what you hope it will communicate.

You can enquire from elsewhere in the UK.

Your location and delivery requirements can be discussed as part of the project.

Let's Talk About Your Cyanotype Commission

Whether you're imagining personalised cyanotype prints for a gift or a bespoke piece for your own walls, I'd love to hear your ideas.

Send me a little about the subject, any reference images, your budget and the date you have in mind.

We can take it from there.
